Michigan is a great place to live. I love this time of year as my wife and I plant and tend our small garden, enjoying early morning and evening walks and spend as much time with the grill on our deck as we do in our kitchen. It is also fun to see our communities come alive with festivities, and people enjoy being outside. The school year has come to an end; for some, it means a new chapter in their life as they make the decision to enter the work force, join a branch of service, or start college. We wish all students who graduated high school or college the best as they move into their next adventures.
Each spring we provide high school seniors and current college students the opportunity to apply for our Community Financial Scholarships. This year twenty-one students were awarded $1,000 scholarships to help with college expenses. Seven of our recipients are from our northern communities while fourteen are from our southern communities. The scholarship winners were honored with a reception in May, and it was exciting to speak with each of these students and learn more about the colleges they plan to attend and the areas of study they will pursue. I am always so impressed by what they have already accomplished and their desire to make a difference in their community. Read more
Temperatures are rising and so is our community support. As we launch our 7th annual Summer of Sharing Campaign, we want to know, “What GOOD could you do with $1,000?”
This summer, Community Financial will donate $60,000 to nonprofit, educational and community organizations throughout Michigan! That’s $1,000 a day every Monday – Friday from June 12, 2017 – September 1, 2017. Read more
